There seems to be a lot of talk in the blogosphere about the notion of open source church resources.   • I think we need to be careful here and stay within our legal limits. For example, a postcard designed by you for your church using stock photography might be ok to share, but it might not without crediting the photogtapher. If the photgraph was rights managed, it definitely would not be ok to share. We need to be careful that open source and furthering the kingdom doesn't turn into filesharing and ignoring valid copyrights (whether we agree with them or not).

  • I love the idea of open source for churches. I heard one of the guys from Seacoast church say, "If you want to make money sell your stuff. If you want to change the world, give it away!" I think he quoted someone else but it's very true! I love being able to hear Ed Young and Erwin McManus (and others) preach for free via podcast. I agree that we shouldn't break copyright stuff in the process. Thanks for the link Ben!
